this course focuses on the development of advanced visualization techniques and digital fabrication. visualization is the medium used to communicate ideas about form, space, light, texture, and materials in architecture and interior design. renderings are not only important to convey concepts and represent information to clients and the public, but are also an essential part of the iterative design and visualization process. In addition, contemporary digital fabrication techniques explore geometric logic, assemblage methods, and material realities that the visualization alone can not convey.

for this course students were asked to design an installation that would occupy a particular location within CCA's main building. this installation was required to work with notions of transformation, digital fabrication, super-furniture and shifting perceptions.

this course focuses on the development of advanced visualization techniques and digital fabrication. visualization is the medium used to communicate ideas about form, space, light, texture, and materials in architecture and interior design. renderings are not only important to convey concepts and represent information to clients and the public, but are also an essential part of the iterative design and visualization process. In addition, contemporary digital fabrication techniques explore geometric logic, assemblage methods, and material realities that the visualization alone can not convey.

students will continue to develop their design communication skills through the production of digital environments, renderings, and physical models. they will learn how to analyze and document precedents and deploy methods and strategies for modeling, rendering, graphic composition, and digital fabrication. the course is structured around three main components: technical skills, theoretical context, and design methodology. it seeks to engage digital tools as a support for all levels of the design process.
